Staying Warm and Cozy At The Camp

I think it was while reading a post from Hemlock Haven Lodge about waking up to a snowday, being able to crawl back into the warm covers of bed and go back to sleep...That's when I got to thinking about something that is very near and dear to my cottage lovin' heart....our electric blanket....

There are lots of things that you can claim to be useful and practical at the camp, whether it's a woodstove, a firewood carrier, a good working water pump, a nice window that opens...whatever...but there is one thing that I wouldn't want to be without, my electric blanky...er...blanket....

Yes, I am a fairly rugged outdoorsy type when need be, but by God, when I wake up at 6:00 in the morning and can see my breath in the camp because the woodstove burnt out hours ago, it sure is wonderful to tuck back into the warmth of the electric blanket
.

We have one with two controls so my side can be turned up hotter than Wendy's or vice versa. Sometimes for fun I like to switch the controls around so that she is operating mine, which usually results in me being nice and warm...while she is nice and cold...that forces her to move closer and cuddle up to me...*wink*

We've been using an electric blanket on our cottage beds for years, generally using them underneath us as opposed to on top of us. It keeps the early season dampness from coming through the mattress and takes the chill off of a cold bed. In fact, one of the first jobs upon arrival at the camp in the Spring, is to turn on the electric blankets and warm up the beds.

Sounds great,.... but, no electricity at our camp! Log cabin, a true camp,.. including an outhouse!
