Signs of Summer Around Home

Didn't get to the cottage this weekend, but had a good one just the same, getting some things done around my virtual cottage, this blog, and around the yard here at home. One of the sure signs of spring and the coming summer is when I decide to put up the backyard screen tent. It creates a refuge from the sun, and a comfortable place to eat a lunch, or read a book, and even entertain a casual visitor on a summer evening. This little tent cost us about $150 5 years ago, and it has paid for itself over and over since then.

Another sign of the good weather arriving are the purple flowers beginning to bloom on our lilac trees. In the evening, when the wind goes down, the pleasant smell of lilacs fills the backyard.

I've got to try and transplant some of these to the cottage....
