A New Way To Read At The Cottage

As a blogger and for that matter a cottager, I am a reader. I read everything I can get my hands on, and sometimes at the camp, I re-read books and magazines I have already read. I find it relaxing, as well as a great way to pass the time and learn at the same time. In fact, I read about a book a week riding our public transit system back and forth to work each day.

The problem is, having something current to read, and availability to it, because I don't always have time to get to the bookstore or the library. My briefcase is often stuffed with several paperbacks, some read, some waiting to be read.

That's why I am excited about the idea of the new Kindle Wireless Reading Device

Now I can carry 1500 books in my briefcase, from a selection of Over 360,000 books, including 101 of 112 New York Times® Best Sellers, plus U.S. and international newspapers, magazines, and blogs. This is pretty cool if I do say so myself! What a great idea for a cottager, imagine having all these books to choose from at the cottage, whenever you want to read. It's wireless, you don't need a computer and it's only as thick as a pencil. Unbelievable what today's technology can do.

Imagine a rainy day at the cottage being able to draw from 1500 books and when I've read those, choose from some 360,000 more! This puts new meaning to the words, voracious reader....I will be what people describe as a "well read person"

There are lots of days when there is nothing on the three television channels we pull in at the camp, and on a rainy cold day, being able to pull out a book and cozy up to the fireplace is such a great way to spend some quality time, reading and relaxing.

I know that some purists find it difficult to make the transition from a paper book, with pages to turn to an electronic book with pages to scroll through, like surfing the internet, but having a book in an electronic, hand-held format, will make up for that I am sure, just takes a little getting used to is all.

These aren't cheap, so don't be mislead, but they aren't that expensive either, and considering what you get, and the idea of so many books to read, anywhere, anytime, I think the price is pretty reasonable. If you don't have a Kindle now, I think you will someday, why not now, you can find out more about them  Click Here
