Hi, I’m Rob Dares, welcome to The Cottage Chronicles my website about cottages, camps, boats, fishing and more in the outdoors.
I have been “going to the camp” as long as I can remember, in fact, since even before I remember, starting as a little tyke. Camps, cottages and the outdoors have been my passion all my life and this website is a look at life at the cottage. My family camp is on the shore of Lake Charlotte, in Nova Scotia, Canada, at about 12 miles long.
I’ve taken advantage of blogging to be able to have an opportunity to tell you all about my cottage life, and hopefully help you with yours. I love reading about your experiences at the cottage, or camping or boating or anything else in the great outdoors, so please, feel free to comment and join in the discussion.
On a personal note, I live with the love of my life, Wendy, in Nova Scotia, Canada. I have two other women in my life, my two daughters, and my stepson, who provide me with unending love and support everyday.

Our Cottage Correspondents
Lonesome Larry is our New Brunswick Correspondent, as well as being a skilled outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, cottager, researcher, joke teller and spirit imbibler and part-time cottage campfire arsonist. He’s also a great man around hunting dogs, particularly retrievers, he knows his dogs, very well.
Larry can be counted on for some great color commentary here on The Cottage Chronicles, which is often a welcome addition to this attempt at online entertainment and information for cottagers and others with too much time on their hands. Lonesome Larry, together with his sidekick, “Alleghany Al” are excellent sources of information and color commentary here at the Cottage.
Al and Larry get themselves into some situations from time to time that have to be read to be believed. For example, read about their adventures helping their new neighbor get her cat out of a tree
Here’s a recent, albeit foggy picture of Lonesome Larry posing in his best pair of chest waders beside the Christmas present he bought his wife, who we call Gorgeous Gwen of The Lake, for Christmas. I think this explains why we call him “lonesome” and why he knows so much about dogs, Lonesome Larry spends a lot of time in the dog house !!!

Here’s Alleghany Al demonstrating his off road four-wheeling skills…

I hope you will enjoy The Cottage Chronicles, our stories, tips, and experiences at the camp. Be sure and bookmark us and come back often, we post regularly.
