Tim Hortons Changes Are Coming

It’s funny how when things are going good, there is always some “genius” trying to change it to make it better. I suppose that is the way of the world, progress and all, but still, sometimes ya just gotta wonder. In this case the it is Tim Hortons changes that are coming.

I’m talking about the CBC News story that says Tim Hortons Going Upscale

Softer Lighting and Wi-Fi

Yes, it seems that in some locations Tim Horton patrons are going to find softer lighting, Wi-Fi connections, comfy bench seats, an open concept with a view of the kitchen and whatever else the designers can come up with to make the place….well…upscale.

Gone are the days of going to Tims for a coffee and a smoke cause you just can’t smoke anywhere, and since the change to pre-made donuts I find they require immediate eating or the tend to get pretty hard quick. I had one a few days ago, we bought a couple honeydips on the way to the camp, Wendy changed her mind, didn’t eat hers. I ate it about 3 hours after we bought it. I gotta tell ya when it comes to a donut…eat it when you buy it.

Times Change For Tim Hortons Patrons

I also recall a time when there was a half hour time limit on inside eating at one of the local Tim Hortons. Now the good folks at Tims want you to hang around a little longer, while you enjoy a butterscotch-raspberry-double-cream-cafe-latte-ice-cappacino….(sorry, I made that particular drink up) You get my drift, the days of “large double-double and “triple-single” or whatever other combination of cream and sugar you can come up with. In it’s place are a rainbow of flavors, lattes, mochas, you name it.

In fairness, I know that Tim Hortons and similar establishments have to change with the times and that is probably what they are doing. Most of these outfits don’t start changing something that’s working on a whim without doing the research. I am sure they have polled their customers and found out they want softer lights and wireless wi-fi internet connections.

Had they asked me, I would have told the good folks at Tim Hortons that I want fresh, not frozen donuts, the idea of softer lighting and wi-fi just wouldn’t have crossed my mind…..
